Class Descriptions
"It is only when the correct practice is followed for a long time, without interruptions and with a quality of positive attitude and eagerness, that it can succeed."
- Patanjali, Yoga-Sutras
Slow Flow Restorative Yoga opens and closes with restorative and yin poses, and flows through seated and standing poses. The slow pace of this class allows for emphasis on correct alignment and maintaining balanced even breathing. This style builds strength, stability and postural integrity. Suitable for all levels.
The mission of this class is to help prevent memory related diseases and help individuals live a high quality of life through yoga, reiki and meditation. Each week, we will study different parts of the Four Pillars of Brain Longevity and then practice slow flow yoga. This style of practice promotes peace and quiet in the mind and body, preparing you for meditation. Each practice will end with a medical mind body meditation called Kirtan Kriya also known as Brain Aerobics.
Hips and Shoulders Too! Learn and practice safe, gentle, and effective therapeutic yoga exercises to help eliminate back pain and restore vitality to your whole body. Add these powerful beginner exercises to your daily regimen for total well-being.
An invigorating flow class that blends upbeat rhythmic and modern folk music with fluid, dance-like transitions between postures. While the class offered is of medium-advanced skill level, all practitioners are welcome to join and flow with what is comfortable to them.
Astanga is a dynamic and athletic form of hatha yoga, with a fixed order of postures. It is rooted in vinyasa, the flowing movements between postures, with a focus on energy and breath. While it is a very physical practice, it also promotes mental clarity and inner peace. Variations and hands-on assists are offered throughout the class.
Class will begin with yoga philosophy or a poem allowing students to center and focus. We will then move into gentle seated postures, followed by slow moving standing sequences, focusing on alignment and steady breath. We will come back to the floor for seated forward folds, gentle back bends and an inversion. Class will close with an extended savasana highlighting the focused teaching. This class helps to quiet the mind while bringing flexibility and strength to the body.
Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation”. It’s usually practiced lying down with a teacher guiding the session. The practice draws our attention inwards, and we learn to surf between the states of wakefulness and sleep, where our body finds its natural state of equilibrium (homeostasis) – the breath balances and becomes quiet, unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves, and we fall into an innate state of deep, blissful awareness.
As we rest here, we can turn our attention easily and effortlessly to the very nature of awareness and consciousness. We start to experience the ‘deeper’ features of yogic teachings that previously we perhaps considered intangible, such as feeling our interconnected wholeness and becoming aware of our true, unified nature – expansive, inclusive, and deeply restful.
Yoga Nidra takes us effortlessly into a state of harmonious, restful being. From here, we can be healed, restored and awakened to our deepest, all-knowing, all-welcoming self. It’s a sublime practice, gaining popularity the world over, and ongoing research continues to prove its effectiveness.
Come have fun in the swing, whether you’re new to aerial or experienced. This class will review basics of unique poses and sequences to build strength, confidence and flexibility. Proper alignment in yoga poses and challenging balancing moves can be fully explored by the benefit of swing support. Advanced options and inversions will be offered but not required.Let go of the week and rejuvenate for the weekend with a Friday evening practice of support and energizing lift of body and spirit.
Join us to breathe, chant, meditate and learn yoga philosophy. Pranayama is focused breathing. We often hold our breath and don’t even realize it. We will practice breathing techniques to calm our mind, relax our body and open our heart. Chanting – singing – is proven to be good for us! It also calms and focuses our mind. Doesn’t matter if you can hold a tune and it is not religious. Yoga Philosophy provides a path to overall wellness.
Yin Yoga uses gentle long held postures practiced with an attitude of compassionate acceptance to awaken the more yin parts of our physical, emotional and spiritual selves. It is a healing practice that leaves the practitioner feeling rested, grounded and peaceful. Practitioners often use props such as bolsters, blankets and blocks, to support the body in a restorative way. All levels. No experience necessary.
This dynamic class combines flowing vinyasa sequences with mindful breathing techniques and an uplifting, energizing playlist, all set in a heated environment designed to enhance flexibility, promote deep muscle relaxation, and encourage detoxification.
