Sukah Sundays: Monthly Restorative Yoga Workshop

with Kaitlyn Z. Tyler, RYT 500

This workshop series is a monthly invitation to find ease in your body, mind, and heart. Sukah in Sanskrit translates to sweetness— happiness, joy, and bliss. We will embody this sweetness with a nourishing restorative yoga practice by candlelight.

Restorative yoga allows us to relax into poses, without strain or pain, so that we can achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Our parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated when we relax into poses, which promotes a relaxation response— slowing your heart rate and breath and increasing blood flow to your vital organs— reducing stress in the body and mind. As we hold postures, the deeper layers of our physical body are able to release. This is a great practice to balance an active schedule and an excellent way to practice self care.

We will begin in a restorative posture and center ourselves using pranayama (breath work). Once we settle into our breathing we will move through gentle floor-based stretches to make space in the body. We will then seamlessly transition to our restorative postures— applying the learned use of props from the beginning of the workshop— for ultimate relaxation.

The practice includes a blissful extended savasana and lots of Kait’s hands-on adjustments.
